Children make sense of their world through play. During play therapy sessions children can show their conflicts and express their feelings though various modes of play. Children are then are able to feel more empowered and gain mastery of their world. Play therapy assists children in reducing anxiety and depression, improving social skills, working out trauma, and improving communication in families.
Family members are able to notice and understand patterns of interacting. Family therapists assist family members in building stronger family bonds and shifting patterns of communication. The family system can then support the growth of each family member, promote harmony, and reduce emotional and behavioral difficulties in children and teens.
Individuals are able to explore their stressors and work with the therapist to improve social and emotional well being. As people feel safe expressing their thoughts and feelings and reflecting on experiences, they feel more empowered to make the changes that will increase confidence, promote wellness and increase life satisfaction.
